JM Restaurant

Rome / 2017 / 150 mq

  • Jm restaurant is a restaurant and a cocktail bar in the heart of Rome. The project consists in the recovery of a previous restaurant whose rooms layout was decided to change in order to make the longitudinal direction the strong point of the entire space. In fact, from the main entrance where there is the bar counter/café bench with a space dedicated to the tapster and a work station for cocktails, via a path, which winds on this longitudinal direction, we can access from one side to the restaurant area and from the other… to the lounge area, more reserved and sophisticated, characterized by large sofas, armchairs, conciliatory sounds and lights. The mood of the materials combined together which characterize the environment (that is the Calacata marble, the polished brass, the white lacquered wood, resins and furniture leathers) creates an extremely luxurious amalgam. The same wainscoting with large stone slabs accentuates this atmosphere of exclusivity. Then, the decision to use a single colour for the walls has made the surfaces and the stone covered parts more perceivable, as well as the inlays and the polished brass lines. The brass lines, which become the dominant component of the project, mark the pace of the walls in harmony with the floor joints, like a delicate arpeggio. All stylistic choices which emphasize the interior space, visually enlarging the surfaces by giving elegance and sophisticated design to it.
